The road to Buck Ridges

The Road to Buck Ridges – Franklin, West Virginia

The drive up to Buck Ridges is as wild and winding as the mountain itself. A gravel road weaves through thick forest, where deer often watch from the bushes and the occasional black bear makes an appearance. You might spot a snake or two sunning along the edge—just part of the charm.

These photos were taken on a rainy day, with mist settling into the trees and the whole mountainside painted in lush green. It’s peaceful, remote, and beautiful—but don’t try it without 4WD. The road has character, and it’s best to be prepared.
